Monday's friendly was the second football game between these sides in the history of the football: the only previous dates back to July 5, 1994, when a brace from Roberto Baggio gave Italy a painful qualify for the quarter finals of the World Cup in America.
It was an excellent game not soon to be forgotten by all who saw it unfold and both coaches, Cesare Prandelli of Italy and Keshi of Nigeria would be pleased with the displays of their sides.
It was a fourth consecutive draw for the Italians. Shola Ameobi scored a stunner and thought he had won it for Nigeria only for the Italians to crawl back into the game. The friendly match ended 2-2 in Fulham's Craven cottage, London among goals from Rossi and Giaccherini and the African champions Dike and Ameobi.
Italy closes its 2013, with a tie and Nigeria will be looking to an amazing year in which we have won the African Nations cup, First African team to qualify for Brazil's world cup and with an entertaining draw with Italy, It will only get better. Take a look at our first game with the Italians in 1994.
