First woman on the list of U.S. terrorist lives in Cuba. Joanne Chesimard, accused of murdering a police officer 40 years ago, was included in the list of FBI most wanted terrorists. The announcement was made by the office of the FBI (U.S. Federal Police) to Newark (New Jersey) on the 40th anniversary of the murder of Werner Foerster, an officer during a traffic stop on a road.
In 1973, Joanne and several accomplices were traveling in a car in New Jersey when a police patrol stopped them. She responded with gunfire that killed Foerster and wounded his companion.

Joanne was later arrested in 1977 and sentenced to life imprisonment, but escaped from prison in 1979 and reappeared in 1984 in Cuba, where she received political asylum and still believe that lies, according to the FBI said today at a news conference.

The fugitive, who also uses the name Assata Shakur and is the Godmother of the late Tupac Shakur is already 65 and considered a "domestic terrorist," said Special Agent Aaron Ford, head of the FBI office in Newark.

In a rare statement admitting the possibility of abuses by his forces, Jonathan said: "Where any kind of misconduct is established, the federal government will not hesitate in ensuring that due sanctions are enforced and that justice is done."

Soldiers are seldom prosecuted for alleged abuses in the north, which rights groups say include summary executions and spraying people's homes with bullets.

Nigerian authorities argue civilians are killed in the crossfire because militants use them as human shields.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) said on Wednesday satellite images revealed "massive destruction of civilian property" in Baga, undermining the army's claim that only 30 houses were destroyed.

There were 2,275 destroyed buildings, the watchdog said, urging Nigeria to investigate claims by community leaders that more than 180 died -- the military maintains a toll of 37.

"The glaring discrepancies between the facts on the ground and statements by senior military officials raise concerns that they tried to cover up military abuses," it said.

A 5 year old boy killed his two year old sister at his home in Kentucky with his own rifle. According to the coroner this event has been "a senseless accident." The girl died after being taken to a hospital according to state police. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
